About the Client
My mHealth is an NHS-approved digital app that helps people with COPD, asthma, diabetes and heart conditions manage their
symptoms from home, helping them to stay healthy, independent, and reduce their risk of hospitalisation.
Their innovative approach transforms traditional “one-to-one” care into a powerful “one-to-many” model. During the pandemic,
when conventional services were suspended, their digital therapeutics provided 55,000 pulmonary rehabilitation classes and
250,000 educational sessions across England, ensuring the continuity of care for thousands of patients.
Their digital health platform offers a scalable solution for managing long-term conditions that have the greatest impact on
patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems. By combining clinical expertise with user-centred technology, My mHealth
supports better outcomes at both an individual and population level.
My Language Connection have been great to work with. They translated our app content, both text and
video, into multiple European languages. The team were very friendly, easy to work with, and made the
whole process smooth. We’re really happy with the results and would definitely recommend them. We
really appreciate their help in enabling us to localise our materials and branch into Europe.
Requirements and Challenges
While highly effective within the UK, the app’s impact was limited by its English-only content. As such, when My M Health prepared for international rollout, they needed:
- Accurate medical translation across multiple European languages
- Culturally sensitive localisation so instructions were clear for different healthcare systems
- Fully translated and localised instructional videos, in addition to the written content
- Consistency across clinical terminology and patient guidance
- Quick turnaround to support their international expansion timeline.
Because the content had direct implications for patient safety and recovery, linguistic precision was essential. For this reason, My M Health enlisted the support of My Language Connection.
Approach and Solution
We translated the app content into five key European languages:
- French
- German
- Spanish
- Italian
- Dutch
The materials localised included:
- Patient instructions
- Clinician explanations
- Symptom-tracking guidance
- Progressive cardiac rehabilitation exercises
- Emergency and triage advice
- Lifestyle content (nutrition, activity, medication adherence)
In addition to text-based content, we also localised on-screen captions, voiceover scripts, and patient-facing guidance within the app’s video library. This ensured complete consistency in tone, clarity, and medical accuracy, which was especially important for the visually demonstrated rehabilitation exercises.
To maintain quality and ensure the content was completely localised, we developed terminology lists and style guides to ensure consistent naming of conditions, symptoms, and medications. We also aligned all content with each country’s medical conventions and patient-friendly health literacy standards, ensuring a clear, safe and culturally appropriate experience for users.
By combining linguistic expertise with clinical understanding, My Language Connection delivered a fully localised solution that supported My mHealth’s international expansion and patient safety goals, enabling them to safely expand into multiple European markets.
